River Sections

  • Rattlesnake Rapid Stretch

Rattlesnake is our most popular stretch, packed with big, fun class II and III rapids. It can be done in as little as 3 hours, at most 4 hours. Lion's Head jump rock is on this stretch where guests have the chance to jump from a 10ft or 20ft rock ledge into the river below. After lunch, most groups choose to visit the natural whirlpool in the river just below the take-out. Groups have stayed in the whirlpool for up to 2 hours floating around and around, jumping in from surrounding ledges and enjoying every minute. Another afternoon option for this stretch is a visit to the Clear Creek swimming hole, a favorite short hike to a crystal clear swimming hole with 25ft cliff jump in a rugged canyon.

    River Put-in: Curly Jack Campground
    River Take-out: Wingate Bar

  • Dragon's Tooth

Dragon's Tooth is a class IV stretch with an optional hike to Ukonom Falls midday. After jumping from PDH (Pretty Darn High), low jump 20ft, high jump 35ft, guests continue down the river and eat lunch on one of several beach options. After lunch, we pull off the river and hike through the Ukonom Creek Canyon all the way up to the raging waterfall. The hike is adventurous and involves hiking, climbing, and swimming to reach the falls. This is a 6-8 hour stretch of river with the hike.

    River Put-in: Ferry Point River
    Take-out: Coon Creek

  • Otter's Playpen

Otter's Playpen is a great option for a third day on the river. With a class IV rapid called "Savage", this is a great stretch to challenge members of your group to try inflatable kayaking either in single or tandem kayaks. This is a 4 hour raft day with lunch on the river.

    River Put-in: Sluice Box River
    Take-out: Seattle Creek

  • The Ikes

"The Ikes". Composed of Little, Big, and Super Ike, this stretch is for groups who want maximum variety in their trip. While this stretch is some of the biggest water, most four day trips will elect to repeat their favorite stretch on the fourth day. The Ikes requires the most travel (roughly 40 minutes each way) but it is a great stretch for those who wish the see a completely new section on a four day trip. 4-5 River Hours.

    River Put-In: Ishi Pishi Bridge
    River Take-Out: Orleans
